Manners, where have you gone?

I'm in Starbucks right now doing homework (because the library closed early today, at 5pm)...

So I'm sitting at this table doing my English work, and there is this large, "cigarette stenching" guy sitting at a chair about 7 feet away from me. And he is staring at me. For about the 7 minutes that I have been here, he is staring. He has gone outside to smoke about 3 cigarettes during this 7 minute time period, and from the outside window he is still staring! So at this point I have had enough.

I look up at the guy (about 43 years old or so), and he is still staring! I stare right back, and we are staring each other straight in the eye for about 30 seconds. At this point I am extremely surprised by his rudeness I blurt out: "Sir, did you know it's rude to stare at people?"
And I guess he didn't hear what I said, because he completely disregarded it and thought I was trying to have an actual discussion with him. He moves conversationally forward a little out of his seat and replies: "I'm sorry miss, I couldn't hear what you said."
And so I repeat it: "Did you know that it is rude to stare at people? You have been staring at me and I would appreciate it if you looked somewhere else."

Are these people serious? Where have people's manners gone?

It has been 10 minutes since the former confrontation, someone please slap his mother: he is still staring.

The Underdog

Is it just me, or does the underdog surprise us more often then not? i.e. Giants vs. Patriots or, most recently, Saints vs. Colts.
Congratulations Saints, you did it.

Never Underestimate the Power of Chocolate + Peanut Butter

I always thought that my first official blog post would be something that would inspire my readers. Something witty and philosophical... I would have never guessed that my first post would be about food, but alas, I suppose it was inevitable. Anyone who knows me knows about my affair with the Sense of Taste. And when I say I love food, I mean I am not averse to anything edible. I savor everything and anything...within reason of course. {And for some of my readers who are having a good chuckle right now, get your head out of the gutter. Tsk Tsk Tsk. --Notice that I noticed the multiple meaning as well...}

So after watching a week of the Food channel, and drooling over a galore of baked chocolate desserts, I had finally caved in: I was going to cook Barefoot Contessa's Peanut Butter Swirl Chocolate Brownies.
I edited the recipe by adding actual peanuts (which she did recommend in the show) and I justified myself by saying "Oh, I am cooking them for some friends...I won't have any of course."
Well, I did. I have had about 4 (so far).
Chocolate + Peanut Butter is a recipe for "disaster" to anyone who is trying to eat healthy foods. And to a person with a lack of (some) self-control, at least when it comes to food, I should have known better. Much better.
